The parable of the rich fool

Luke 12 16 16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ 18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ 21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

What is the problem with this rich man? His problem is that he only concerns for this life, plans for this life, and accumulates wealth for himself. The Bible tells us:
Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands. (Ecclesiastes 5:15)
We came into this world empty handed, we will leave this world empty handed, we came naked, and we will leave naked. Nothing can be taken away. Also life is not in our hands. We know that covid-19 has taken the lives of many people. Just like what the parable says: But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ Lord Jesus said:
But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. (Luke 12:31)
People in the world only lives for this life and is busy for this life. Lord Jesus said that we seek first the kingdom of God, the righteousness of God, and what our daily needs God will add to us. We should not only live for this life. What is more important is that we should know God, seek eternal life, seek first the kingdom of God and the righteousness of God. Our needs in this life will be given to us by God. Lord Jesus said:
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.(Luke 12:33)
Here Lord Jesus said that when we help the needy and give to the poor, we lay treasure in heaven and the treasure in heaven will never fail. When we give to the poor, we store treasure in heaven, we will have rewards in heaven in the future.
May God bless you and your family.
