Matthew 16:24-28 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. 28 “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” (Matthew 16:24-28)
Here the Lord Jesus said, “If anyone wants to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” What does it mean to take up your cross and follow the Lord? Taking up your cross means dying to yourself. The Lord Jesus continued, “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” If a person wants to save his life and lives for himself, he will lose his life, and if he loses his life for the Lord and for the gospel sake, he will find his life. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? It does not profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his life and lose his soul.
Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. (Revelation 22:12)
The Lord Jesus will come again soon, and He will reward each person according to what he has done. When the Lord Jesus comes, He will come with rewards and give to each person according to what he has done. The Lord Jesus continued, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” The Lord Jesus said these words 2,000 years ago. He said that when he comes again, some of those who were present at that time would not die. The death here refers to spiritual death. Although they died physically, they are alive spiritually.
May God bless you and your family! 🙏😊
