12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (Matthew 7:12-13)
Here the Lord Jesus said: “do to others what you would have them do to you” If you want others to be kind to you, you must be kind to others. The Lord Jesus wants people to enter through the narrow gate, because the narrow gate leads to eternal life, while the wide gate leads to destruction. What does the narrow gate mean here?
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
The Bible talks about the Lord Jesus as the door of the sheep, the narrow door, narrow gate. Only through Him can we go to the Heavenly Father. Only through Him can we have life and eternal life.
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
Only through the name of Jesus can we be saved.
Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ (Luke 13:24-25)
Here the Lord Jesus wants everyone to strive to enter the narrow gate. People must actively seek in order to find. People must strive to enter when the door of salvation is still open.
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Here Paul says that we are saved by God’s grace and our faith, not by works, but after believing in the Lord and being saved, we need to have good work to give glory to God.
May God bless you and your family! 🙏😊
