24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law. (Matthew 7:24-29)
Here the Lord Jesus talks about two types of people. The first type of people are those who hear the Lord’s words and put them into practice. The Lord said that they are the wise people who build their houses on the rock and can withstand the storm. The second type of people are those who hear the Lord’s words but do not put them into practice. The Lord said that they are foolish people who build their houses on sand and cannot withstand the storm.
and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. (1 Corinthians 10:4)
a built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:20)
The above two verses say that the Lord Jesus is the rock. A person who hears the words and puts them into practice builds his foundation on the rock, i.e. the Lord Jesus. He has a solid foundation and is a wise man.
