1When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” (Matthew 8:1-4)
Here we see a leper came and knelt before the Lord Jesus and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” The Lord Jesus healed him. We see this man’s faith in the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus healed him and told him not to tell anyone. Just go and show his body to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded. This can be seen in the following verses:
1The Lord said to Moses, 2 “These are the regulations for any diseased person at the time of their ceremonial cleansing, when they are brought to the priest: 3 The priest is to go outside the camp and examine them. If they have been healed of their defiling skin disease, 4 the priest shall order that two live clean birds and some cedar wood, scarlet yarn and hyssop be brought for the person to be cleansed. (Leviticus 14:1-4)
But this man did not do what the Lord Jesus told him.
Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere. (Mark 1:45)
Because that man didn’t do what the Lord Jesus told him, it affected the Lord’s work.
or if they touch human uncleanness (anything that would make them unclean) even though they are unaware of it, but then they learn of it and realize their guilt; (Leviticus 5:3)
According to the Old Testament, if a person touches another person’s uncleanness, including leprosy, if he knows it, he has become unclean, he realize his guilt. The Lord Jesus is the Son of God, not only He was not defiled, but He healed the person. The Lord can heal all diseases, and His power exceeds all.
