23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” 26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” (Matthew 8:23-27)
Here the Lord Jesus told the disciples to cross the sea or the lake in a boat, the sea here was the sea of Galilee. Suddenly there was a storm. The parallel passage Luke 8:23 says that the boat was about to be filled with water, but the Lord Jesus fell asleep. The disciples were very afraid and woke the Lord Jesus up. The Lord Jesus rebuked the wind and the sea, and the wind and sea became calm right away. Here we see the humanity and divinity of the Lord Jesus. As a human being, he needed sleep, but as God, with just one word, the wind and sea got calm down. Not only can the Lord Jesus calm the storm of the sea, He can also calm the storms in our lives.
May God bless you and your family! 🙏😊
