Jesus Calms the Storm

22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. 24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” (Luke 8:22-25)
This passage is about the Lord Jesus calming the storm. The Lord Jesus and his disciples were crossing the lake, and after they set out, the Lord Jesus fell asleep, This shows his humanity. Suddenly a storm arose on the lake, and the disciples were very afraid. They woke the Lord Jesus, and the Lord Jesus rebuked the wind and the waves, and the storm subsided. Here we see the divinity of the Lord Jesus; He is in control of everything.
You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them. (Psalm 89:9)
This Old Testament verse says that only God can calm the storms.
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. (Psalm 107:29)
This also says that only God can calm the storms, the Lord Jesus calmed the storm which shows the divinity of the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus can not only calm the storms of nature, but also the storms of our lives. He can heal the sick, cast out demons, and raise people from the dead; He can calm the storms in our lives. When we encounter storms in our lives, we should ask the Lord Jesus to calm them; when we face difficulties or have needs, we can also ask the Lord for help.
May God bless you and your family!
