The reward of serving the Lord

The Lord Jesus said: “Whoever welcomes you welcomes me; whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.” Here the Lord Jesus said that anyone who welcomes the disciples welcomes him and whoever welcomes him welcomes the Father. The Lord Jesus continued: “Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. ” When a person receives a prophet, he can learn from the prophet the words given by God directly to him, he can learn from the prophet his experience with God, God’s gifts, etc., and he can share the reward God gives to the prophet. This reward is not just for this life, more importantly for the future.
Example: The Old Testament prophet Elijah went to the house of a widow in Zarephath, Sidon, and was received by the poor widow. Then she would receive the reward that Elijah received. Because he had a share in Elijah’s ministry. The widow of Zarephath received the prophet Elijah, and first her flour never run out, later the widow’s son died and Elijah raised his son from the dead. This is a reward on earth, and she will receive God’s future reward through Elijah’s ministry. He who welcomes a righteous person participates in his righteous deeds and therefore receives his reward.
Example: In the Old Testament, Rahab received and protected two Israeli spies, and later her whole family was saved.
The Lord Jesus continued: “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” The Lord Jesus here talks about anyone giving a cup of water to a disciple to drink. Even if you do such a small thing, the Lord will remember it, because when you do it to the disciples, you do it to the Lord. Thank and praise the Lord.
May God bless you and your family! 🙏😊
